The Indian Harbor Sailing Foundation, an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer-led organization, was established in 2001 to support youth sailing.
Through the generous support of Indian Harbor Yacht Club members and others, the Foundation has funded grants to help purchase equipment and safety gear by various sailing organizations, the local high school sailing team and Sea Scout Ship1.
Teaching youth sailing helps provide individuals with the skills they need to advance through life. Sailing fosters:
Near-Term: Support grass-roots efforts promoting youth sailing in western Long Island Sound.
Intermediate-Term: Recognize and support the 2028 Olympic ambitions of local sailors.
Long-Term: Help celebrate the centennial anniversary of high school sailing in 2030.
This evening will feature a unique evening and silent auction at the historic Indian Harbor Yacht Club clubhouse.
A huge thank you to all who participated in the May 16 re-launch of the Foundation. The turnout and energy were tremendous and thanks to the generosity of many, the Foundation raised well in excess of its goals.
And next year will be even better!
